Steve, Occupation: Sattelite Wrangler
I never had the chance to tell someone that I dearly believe in magic. For instance, in a moment of great shock or panic, time seems to slow down to a crawl. In some cases it even halts completely until you are able to see each detail.
The moment I believe I was changed was such a moment. When it happened I sat reasonably comfy in a chair. Well, I was actually strapped into this chair. And this chair wasn’t any chair but it was mounted to a pretty expensive piece of aluminium. This piece of aluminium was named Argiope and in all honesty: It was a pretty nasty rocket.
If you don’t Argiope is according to greek mythology, the mother of europa. Such a fitting name. I envisioned her as an old hag, always talking with heir dog and complaining about the foreigners. Who are by the way called Johnny and Mary-Anne who just happen to be sunburnt all the time.
I digress, back to my magic moment. I knew something was very wrong the moment that I was bundled up like a parcel and put on top of a giant bomb. But as always, you only know what will happen at the end.
When I saw the error code blinking on the MFD in front of me, it was already too late. There was a brilliant flash of white and then sweet nothingness. That is, until I woke up again.
The first thing I felt was numbness in my whole body and the lack of color in my vision. Also there was no sound. Which is strange because there is always a noise, but in that moment there was nothing.
Looking around I understood that what I saw were stars
This was a response to a Writing Prompt but apparently not in r/WritingPrompts. I have sadly misplaced the topic and will hopefully locate it sometime in the future.
